The Lungau is a high plateau located over 1,000 meters above sea level, offering sunny, warm summers and cold, snow-rich winters – making it a highly snow-sure destination.
The nearby provinces of Carinthia and Styria provide a wide range of diverse excursion options. Tamsweg can be reached by car in about 10 minutes from the A10 motorway without the need to cross any mountain passes. Thanks to this convenient location, day trips to Italy and Slovenia are also possible.
You have a choice of four ski areas right at Tamsweg’s doorstep: Aineck-Katschberg, Fanningberg, Großeck-Speiereck, and Obertauern – all easily accessible by public ski bus or by car. The ski bus stop is about a 5-minute walk from the apartment. Heading toward Styria, just beyond the provincial border, you'll also find Turracher Höhe and the Kreischberg-Murau ski region – both reachable in under 30 minutes by car.
In summer, Lungau offers countless opportunities to explore and enjoy the unspoiled natural landscape. Expansive cycling paths for mountain bikers and leisure riders, along with a well-marked hiking trail network, lead to around 60 crystal-clear mountain lakes and over 70 serviced alpine huts.
